Frequently Asked Insurance Questions

Can I bind or change coverage by voicemail, text, or email?

No. Coverage generally cannot be bound, changed, or cancelled through voicemail, text, or email alone. Please speak directly with an agent to confirm any policy changes.

How do I know how much auto insurance I need?

Your needs depend on your driving habits, vehicle value, financing requirements, and how much financial protection you want. We help you compare limits and options so you can make an informed decision. There are also telematics that can help you save and these are optional.

Do I need flood insurance if I already have homeowners or renters’ insurance?

Most homeowners and renters’ policies do not cover flood damage. If your property is in or near a flood-prone area, flood insurance may be worth considering. All properties can flood and many claims occur to houses that are not in a Flood Zone.

How do deductibles work and how should I choose one?

A deductible is the amount you pay before insurance applies. Higher deductibles may usually lower premiums but increase out-of-pocket costs after a claim. We will help you balance savings with risk when we discuss coverages.

Should I insure my home for replacement cost or actual cash value?

Replacement cost helps pay to rebuild without depreciation, while actual cash value accounts for wear and tear. Replacement cost often provides stronger protection. We will be happy to show you both and the respective premiums.

What discounts might I qualify for?

Discounts may be available for bundling policies, safe driving, claims-free history, home safety features, and carrier-specific programs. Some carriers offer good student discounts as well. We will be glad to go over all of this with you.

What should I do if I have a claim?

Ensure everyone is safe, prevent further damage if possible, and contact your agent or carrier promptly. Contact the Police and take photos of the damage to both vehicles.

What should I bring to a Medicare enrollment appointment?

Bring your Medicare card, a list of medications, your doctors’ names, and information about any additional coverage.

What types of insurance does my business need?

Most businesses need general liability and property coverage, but you may also need workers’ compensation or commercial auto, professional liability, or cyber coverage depending on your operations.

Do I need workers’ compensation if I have only a few employees?

Even small businesses face injury risks. Workers’ compensation can help protect employees and the business.

What is a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP)?

A BOP bundles property and liability coverage into one policy and is often cost-effective for small to mid-sized businesses.

What is the difference between term and permanent life insurance?

Term life covers a set period, while permanent life may last a lifetime and may include cash value accumulation. Some carriers offer up to 40 year term policies, depending on one’s age.
